Hi there! My name is Ryan (he/him). I bring a grounded, person-centered approach to therapy, blending curiosity, compassion, and evidence-based methods to support you in exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).
I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, along with a Master’s in Folklore and a Bachelor’s in Communication Studies. My interdisciplinary background shapes how I understand personal stories, meaning-making, and communication in the therapeutic process.
I hold the view that, given the right space and support, people have the capacity to move toward greater clarity and change—even when things feel stuck or uncertain.
I work to create a space where you can feel heard, seen, and safe to explore your thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. I take a trauma-informed approach and strive to offer an affirming space for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, where all identities and experiences are welcomed and respected. I aim to bring a warm, curious, and attentive presence to our work together, while remaining flexible to what you need in each moment.
My approach is:
Collaborative: You lead, I follow. We explore what matters most to you.
Non-judgmental: All experiences and feelings are valid and understandable.
Curious and reflective: I help you notice patterns in thinking, feeling, and relating, and how your circumstances and experiences may shape them.
Evidence-based: I draw on approaches that support meaningful human change.
Body-aware: I sometimes pay attention to gestures, posture, and emotional cues to better understand and reflect what’s happening for you.
Supportive of self-compassion: Helping you build a kinder, more empowering relationship with yourself.
Culturally and socially aware: I consider how culture, society, and identity—including experiences of oppression, marginalization, and power dynamics—can shape wellbeing and life experience.
While therapy can involve exploring difficult or painful experiences, there is also space for moments of lightness along the way. Together, we can slow down, gain clarity, and explore new ways of responding in life.
My work is informed by person-centered, emotion-focused, mindfulness, and acceptance-based approaches, which support deeper awareness, emotional understanding, and meaningful change.
Spending time hiking in nature is an important part of how I care for my own well-being. It has also shaped how I think about slowing down, noticing, and reconnecting—ideas I often bring into my work with clients.
My path to therapy has been shaped by a long-standing interest in individual and community well-being. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in roles that involved coaching, movement, leadership, and group facilitation, where I developed an appreciation for how people grow through connection, reflection, and lived experience.
I’ve also been influenced by mindfulness and body-based practices, which have shaped how I understand awareness, emotion, and the connection between mind and body. These perspectives continue to inform how I listen, reflect, and work with clients in session.
My academic background—including graduate studies in counselling psychology and folklore—has further shaped my interest in how people make sense of their experiences, and how personal stories and social context influence wellbeing.
Curious if working together might be a good fit?
