How do I know if therapy is right for me?
You don’t need to be in crisis or have everything figured out. Therapy can help if you feel stuck, conflicted, or uncertain how to move forward.
What if I don’t know what to talk about?
That’s common. We can start with whatever feels most present—feelings, patterns, or recent events—and explore from there.
How often do we meet?
This varies depending on a person's needs and goals, among other factors. Sometimes, meeting weekly at first is helpful to get a beginner sense of the issues, your sources of strength and support, and the overall context of your life. From there we work together to come up with a general plan for treatment, and they we try things out. Frequency and plans can change over time, and be adjusted as needed. This is a general picture, but again, everyone is different.
How long does therapy last?
There’s no set timeline. Some people work for a few sessions, others for longer periods to explore patterns and create lasting change.
What does a typical session look like?
Sessions are conversational and collaborative. We focus on both your experiences and how you’re experiencing them. We can also make structured plans for future sessions, and we can allow for flexibility if other matters take priority.
Will you give advice or tell me what to do?
I focus on helping you understand yourself and make your own decisions. Observations and reflections are shared tentatively to support your own insight.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes—20 minutes for you to ask questions, share your goals, and see if working together feels right.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, with standard legal and ethical limits (e.g., risk of harm). We’ll review confidentiality in detail at your first session.
Do you work with 2SLGBTQIA+ clients?
Yes. I offer an affirming and respectful space, bringing both personal and professional awareness to supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ clients.
Are sessions covered by insurance?
Many extended health plans cover psychotherapy and counselling. Please check with your provider for specifics.
Which provinces and territories do you serve?
I offer virtual therapy to adults in Ontario and in provinces or territories where psychotherapy is unregulated (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Newfoundland & Labrador, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut). For clients in other provinces, we’ll confirm eligibility before starting any work together.
